In today’s blog, it is our pleasure to introduce you to Baptiste Erout, Scientist, Laboratory Operations.
Hi Baptiste, Can you tell us what is your role at SparingVision?
I am a Scientist responsible for laboratory operations within the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) team.
What inspired you to join the genomic medicine in ophthalmic industry, and what keeps you motivated?
I have always been drawn to innovation in healthcare. After my first exposure to the development process in gene therapy, I was inspired to deepen my knowledge in the ophthalmology field. What keeps me motivated every day is being part of the journey in bringing innovative gene therapies to patients.
What do you do in your department at SparingVision?
As part of the CMC team, I develop analytical methods to assess the quality and potency of our gene therapy products. My main focus is developing potency assays used for product characterization and development.
How do you work with different teams across the company?
I work closely with cross-functional teams by using analytical methods developed within the CMC team to support early- to late-stage projects.
We always say everything at SparingVision starts with the patient. What does that mean in your role?
For the Analytical team, keeping patients at the center means generating reliable data that helps move our therapies forward and ultimately bring them one step closer to the patients who need them most.
In a few words, why did you choose to work for SparingVision?
Working for SparingVision gave me the opportunity to enter the ophthalmology industry and work in an agile environment. I’ve always been drawn to small, collaborative teams where you can wear many hats and make a real impact.
